What information is processed when you visit this website?
SA Dog Rehoming is intentionally designed to minimize data collection. Like most standard web servers, our hosting infrastructure automatically processes technical data including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and page timestamps to deliver web pages securely. Aggregate, anonymous event data (such as router options selected) is analyzed purely to identify resource shortages across South African provinces.

Is user information shared with listed animal rescue organisations?
No. SA Dog Rehoming never shares, sells, rents, or transfers visitor data to any listed rescue organisation, commercial entity, or advertiser in South Africa. When you click an external link to contact an independent animal shelter or rescue network, you are interacting directly with that organisation under their own separate privacy policies.
What happens to Surrender Intake form submissions?
When you submit the Surrender Intake form, we process the personal information you provide (such as your name, contact details, location, and details about your dog) for the specific purpose of routing your surrender to the most suitable rehoming organisation. With your consent, we share those details with the organisation we match you to so they can assess your dog's situation. We never sell your data, and we never share intake details with any organisation other than the one handling your surrender.
What are your legal rights under POPIA in South Africa?
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (Act 4 of 2013), you have the right to request access to any personal information held by a responsible party, request the correction or deletion of inaccurate records, object to the processing of personal data on reasonable grounds, and submit a complaint to the South African Information Regulator. If you submitted an intake form, you may contact our Information Officer to access, correct, or delete your records at any time.
